Default V20 Fisherman Livewell Configuration

Hey All,

So I have this V20 Fisherman, and somewhere along the line, the piping / tubes / pump / whatever that are supposed to be connected to the baitwell behind the leaning post have been removed / disconnected.

Can anyone tell me what the normal or or best way to use this? How have others configured this?

Thanks!
Chris

is it an aftermarket? i wouldn't think a mid 80's would have factory leaning post. is it in the deck?

He phatdaddy,

I don't think it's aftermarket. The leaning post, I guess could be aftermarket. But the livewell is in the deck. I will take a picture and post it. There is a hatch just to the stern of the well.

Thanks!
Chris

if it's like the "livewell"s in the cuddys, all it had was a bilge pump to pump liquid overboard. one of the guys with a center console will be along shortly.

I believe it was meant to be a fish box and not a livewell, they probably came without a pump and drained into the bilge. I'm planning my CC restoration now and have decided on a macerator pump exiting above the water line. I will probably put the livewell in the transom.

Durnit .. I got distracted and didn't take any pictures. This "livewell" is molded into the floor. I think there are three "ports" on it. One is on the bottom and drains into the bilge, then I think there are two others, one low, and one high. My suspicion was that it was maybe some kind of recirculation or maybe one was a fill from a through hull or something?

I guess a picture would be worth a thousand words.... I'll post one tomorrow.

Chris

OK. Finally some pictures. You can see there is a drain at the very bottom that drains into the bilge. THen there are the two other "ports" or whatever you want to call them. One low, and one high. How were these originally configured? How have others configured these? I can imagine a couple configurations, but would be interested in what others have done.

Thanks Yall..

From the factory it only had a drain at the bottom... the other two "ports" were added by a previous owner but the way they would work is that the bottom one would be fed by a live well pump with lake/sea water and the upper one would be over flow... the problem with this is that the drain would be right about the same level as the water outside the boat and wouldn't work well... sooooo turning on the pump would most likely cause the well to over flow.....

Best bet is to plug the extra holes

Thanks Kevin,
Do you think any kind of re-circulation / airation type pump could work here?
