heres some pics I took a little while back of Jocassee and the surrounding area
From Bad Creek reservoir(over Jocassee) ![]() ![]() ![]() the trout hatchery, I asked if they charged tourist to take pictures with their tackle to photo shop a back ground in ![]() ![]() ![]() various sites to see ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() this Civil war era tunnel(attempted) is pretty cool ![]() ![]() ![]() If you've never been to the SC Upstate, its a treat. Bad Creek Reservoir, feeds into lake Jocassee, Jocassee feeds into Keowee. They have tunnels from each lake for the water to pass, the water turns turbines that produce power, during low power needs, they reverse the turbines and pump water back up to insure they have what they need for peak usage. On lake Keowee, they have a Nuclear Power plant. You can't access much of Bad Creek, Jocassee has a few houses on it, but is still mostly unspoiled, Keowee is home of the rich transplanted Yankee, more people from Ohio than are still in Ohio |

Hey Reel, did you know that back when Clemson University had a producing farm they stored the cheese they made in the tunnel. As soon as you walked into teh tunnel, the temperature was about 20 degrees colder than outside. The trout hatchery is pretty cool, they have about 20 pens that have the fish separated by size, the stream right beside it feeds water into it, they oxygenate it with pure O2. The brood stock were pretty big. I know people that would kill to have a trout that size on the other end of a fly

take a small popper rig with you when you go to the hatchery, you can fish off the dock in the stream beside the place

That tunnel is a reel interesting thing. Any idea why they didn't complete it?
Never mind...found the answer: http://www.oconeecountry.com/stumphouse.html You're lucky to have a place like that to visit. Simply beautiful.
