personally I'd say treat her like a mushroom
Keep her in the dark and feed her bs just smile and chuckle at whatever she says and be above her... throw in a "see that's why I like you" or "HA, you're so cute when you try to pick a fight"now and again right when she expects you to get mad.... the meaner she gets, the more you seem to laugh it off and enjoy her company... If she NEVER gets the response she is looking for she'll become less of a pill

I guess the others are probably right but I bet it would be a whole lot more satisfying to go with the boat/anchor solution.

In the beginning it was brutal. Over the years it has become less brutal. She is an amazing grandmother to my children and would probably do anything for me but no good deed goes unpunished.
A wonderful old black woman named Alma gave me this advise: "Brent, when she come in the room you gets up and walk out. Every time, every room, gets up and leave. Don't be loud, jess leave. After awhile she get the picture and thank befo she make suggestions about cho beard and boat projects in the front yard."

funny thats what i use to do!! made believe i never saw or heard her!, after 20 years she got old and turned out pretty good.
