lowrance vs garmin

i used to always recommend garmin over everything, but garmin has gotten proud of their stuff, to the point its overpriced> I've just started using Lowrance stuff again after swearing them off years ago. I wouldn't have even bothered looking at them until a friend of mine that does electronics told me to give them a chance. They have been bought out by some one else, I think it was Simrad, and they have supposedly revamped the line up and company

i don't know much about this stuff but i just got me the lowrance elite 5 dsi and its really good i got a good deal from west marine but i know this Friday bass pro will have a big sale but you will have to be there really early because is wile supply last

I've been using Lowrance for years because of the clarity of the images I see on the screen...and yes I have had some customer service issues over the years...

Right now I got an Elite 5 Sonar/Chartplotter Combo and it's great!...does everything I need and got it for $449 from Bass Pro just before they went up to $549...The transducer that came w/that unit went out and rather than dingin' and dangin' w/Lowrance, I plunked over $70 for a new one and went on.
From what I understand, the Elite 7 is pretty much feature for feature w/the Elite 5, only different sized screens and the dual imaging/3-way split screen and I think you'll be pretty happy w/it...

i found a 06 2006c garmin on tht for $225. i know, it's outdated, unsupported obsolete technology. but right now, $225 is better than $750.

i agree with you reel, lowrance has the better pic by far. i am hoping i can get a year out of this on and get the elite 7 next year. of course, if this one craps out in a month or two, i'll be right back where i started.
