thanks spares i joined the HAMB forum im sure you gave me a link to it and there is alot of info on there but its a different ball game
all ford small block balancers fit .i have a stud kit for the head and the mains but im not sure wether to use the head gasket i got in my kit or to buy a merc one---with the pump im still not sure which way ill go and as for a carby its a eblebrock there is no room for a holley |

Spares whatdo you think--do i use the head gasket that came in my Victor rienz kit or go for a gen merc gasket---alot of guys on the hamb forum said most head gaskets failed due to engines being overheated and abused

the compression ration on my engine with flats will be 9.4 - 1 not to high should be ok with pump fuel i was working it ot wrong by using the 460 stroke when the 3,7 is lower
460 = 3.85 224 = 3.75 |

You should be fine with the Victor head gasket, 9.4 will be OK especially with the aluminum head, run around 5 degrees initial with 87 octane(R+M/2), top out around 28 degrees to begin with, you can go higher, just try it slow to begin with
