Well I couldn't find any box's that fit right or I liked , so it's time to get creative and build our own . My partner and I started last night, we decided to use white oak do to the price of teak wood. got them all framed up to size and are ready to glass the back sides for strength and weather protection. what you all think of this

Thinking outside the box. Urethane the face leaving it natural wood. I like it. Nothing looks sharper than brightwork when somebody spends the time to do it right.

These are realy not hard to build , I am a pretty good wood worker , and have done many rebuild's over the year's.. I am lucky to have a full work shop. These can be built to any size opening and depth. And I think they look much better than plastic inserts . My partner think's we should we should start offering them for sale ? any way the next project will be the cudddy door (very easy) A few photos of some of my work

well finaly got all the oak trim face boards riped down and mounted to the rod box frames, I used waterproof glue and small head finish screws to make a secure bond that will stand up for many years , next I will mount the original refinished rod holders and finish sanding and polly the whole thing . then onto making the new cabin door
