you will burn more fuel with the 130 than the 150. The 150 is a detuned 200, it can easily make the hp and torque required to push you boat along at 30 mph, the 130 is a smaller displacement engine, it will be working harder and will be turning much higher rpm to achieve the same speed, thus burning more gas. if you want better fuel milage and reliabilty, go with a 150 Opitmax

If you go with an ETEC, they will prop it for you. The ETECS are VERY sensitive to what prop you run on it. Overprop one and you WILL take out the powerhead in no time, under prop it and you will waste fuel, oil ,and chance carboning the engine up from it not getting fully loaded.

I run a 200hp engine and I'd tell you that is the ideal size for a V. Others will have a different opinion. Really, it's whatever you're happy with speed wise. I like to get to where I'm going in a hurry, and I have a long run to get to the open ocean, so for me, a 200 is almost a necessity.
I think you'll be happier with a 150. Power, fuel economy and just overall performance will be better.

Sad, my 1985 Johnson 150 would push my V20 28mph. Safe to say she was only putting out 90 horses. But she made up for it in reliability. I hope my Mercury holds up as well!
I think a 130 or a 150 will do fine. But I am not excited about your engine choice. A good friend just bought a 60 ETEC. He has had it a year and about seven months it spent in the shop. It would run fine going out but coming in it would miss and shake like crazy. Five dealers later he may have it fixed with a new Ecm. I would buy a Mercury or an older Johnson or Evinrude before a new ETec. But this is just my opinion.

Thanks for the info guys. I would like to go up to the 150 but the 130 is already more then i can probably afford. I am dropping the boat of Saturday to have the new 130 E-tec put on. I was happy with my 2000 90 hp Johnson ocean pro so i am sure i will be happy with the new 130.

Also anyone know a rough estimate on how much my 2000 Johnson 90hp ocean pro is worth with both port side cylinders scored, starboard side good compression and look good, rebuilt trim/tilt last summer, good lower end. pretty clean motor other then bad cylinders?
