I will try using a wire to see if it is clogged and I have no idea when it was las changed, so I will change it just to make sure, but I have no idea what is the correct part to order and where to order it.
Thank's for all the info P.S. I watched a video of a older johnson being replaced and they said you have to take the bolt off the shift linkage behind the carbs so the foot will come off. but im not sure if my 200 is the same way. I have a friend that will help me, but still dont know if I need the kit or just the impeller???

Put it in gear
Remove the cowling then remove the lower pans(not completely neccesary, but sure makes it easier) next remove the bolt that holds the shift shaft under the carbs raise the engine up some now remove the trim tab remove the bolt under the trim tab and the other one just in front of it, then remove the bolts along the sides of the lower unit and it should slide off. All in all not a bad job to do, but it is a bit heavy. and can be a pain to get the splines to line back up sliding it back in.

jdog, i have a merc, so not as familar with omc, but i would get a kit that includes the housing along with the impeller. i also would recommend using oem parts, not sierra or other look alikes.

Also when replacing bolts coat them with anti sieze, will keep bolts from corroding if need to get apart again. pretty easy job!

Fellas I must ask. I've replaced a lot of waterpumps in my life and yes its a pretty easy job. But what is the deal with the o-ring at the top of the shaft the goes into the power head? And do you need it? My lower unit came of with out one. I did the coat hanger trick to try and get it out with no luck.

Jdog, lots of good advice here & if your impeller is old you should replace it. But take a look athe guys that said check for dirt daubers in the pee hole. We all live on the north Gulf like you & we've been there done that.
I remember replacing an impeller years ago & the old one looked fine, started it up, no water, poked a piece of weedeater string in the hole, bam!, muddy water & peeing away! Check the easy stuff first. Doug

yeah that o-ring at the top is a good thing, i've had one stuck too. had to cut the drive shaft then remove the power head and heat then pry the shaft out of the power head...
