Willy just called...along the parkway close to Raritan, I BELIEVE he said, he described unimaginable devistation...Morgan Marina?...GONE...stacks of boats of all sizes PILED up against parkway bridge...I could hear the emotion in his voice describing the scene as he drove past all this...people walking around w/nowhere to go...He also voiced Rob's concern that if a typical NorEastern blows through w/out the barrier island and dune protection, it's gonna be BAD...

He just left the Bertram...he found it in a pile of other boats...sounded like the heavily constructed Bert got the best of some of the thinner hulls it came in contact with..but after all is said and done, he doesn't expect to recover his Senor Bert...his home and family are all OK and that's his greatest concern...but easy to tell his emotions ran thin as he decribed what he saw...now a part of the Hurricane Brotherhood...reaching from Galvatston, New Orleans, Charleston...and now the Jersey Shore...

Do the marinas up there tether the boats on blocks to inground auger anchors? Or was there not enough time?

F*CK that is heart wrenching to say the very least. I don't know what else to say except I am glad everyone is safe and like the rest on here have said, all of my friends impacted by this massive storm are in our thoughts and prayers.

The surge lifted boardwalks and houses...beyond the capability of typical ropes normally used to tie off boats, I would think...Willy's Bert was on the hard up on blocks and tied off in hopes of at least preventing it from floating away...the ropes used were snapped like threads he said...

Fully understood what you wrote Reel, if that don't make your skin crawl. Glad Willy and family are OK. Barnegat and all the others as well. How about Bennett and Destroyer? Anybody got word on them yet?

hurricanes are all different. some wet and no wind, some dry and high winds, wide path, narrow path, etc. a lot of the talk down here last week was "cat 1, i don't even bring the dogs in for those." but these events show us more to the story. this seems to be more along the "andrew" type of a storm.
i really feel for all of ya'll, but like others have said, family is important, possesions can be replaced.
now the fun part of dealing with fema & ins companies.
