I think Charlie should be our (wellcraft v20 cult) gift to the Hull truth. Charlie, don't cut them any slack!

BR, is that Fin's boat? He does nice work.

Personally, a 25 Mako is a wet riding pig, there are much better boats to spend time and money on. I'd take a 23 Scepter, 233 Formula, 25 Sea vee, 24 Albemarle, etc any day over that Mako, I've run several of them, as long as you've got money for gas, they will ride good, but you need to tow another boat with gas cans in it to get anywhere

Can someone tell me what kind of "putty" that is he keeps referring to on there. Could use some of that on my little boat build.

Actually I have a story about THT. A 75 year old man just sent me a private message yesterday saying that he also lived in va beach. He also told me that he was very proud of my progress and that he was impressed with my ability to learn so quickly and that my boat building thread was apart of his daily schedule (he checked on it daily). He then tells me because his age he cannot use his boat anymore and that he would be honored to give me his 15' Henry O center console with a 70 horse Suzuki on the back. He has titles to both trailer and boat and told me that he has all the faith in the world in me to fix the boat and fish the hell out of it.

By far one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me. Just goes to show that there are still just good hearted people still out there.

I LOVE THT!!!!!!! LOL!!

Yeah, that is Phin. I've never ridden a mako but I would have to agree it wouldn't be my first pick to restore in that size range.

I knew the old Mako rode good just did not know they were fuel pigs. If I ever go to a 25' boat, it will be a center console and I will build it for tournaments and it will have twins. I really liked the SeaCraft that was posted on here. I am building my V for tournaments hence the bracket, transom door, and the big fishboxes I want to build.

The older Mako's were built strong. I had a 94. Everything overbuilt, very beefy construction, no cut corners......

That said, boat builders used a lot of wood back then, same for Mako, and after 15- 30 years those boats can also require new fuel tanks, and re built sections.

The old Mako 25' CC from the late 70's to early 90's was a real good rough water rig.
I actually rented one and can tell you - 3' - 5' waves no problem, throttle up and go right through.

Anyway, the hull truth's an ok web site. This site, WellcraftV20.com is just a really thoughtful group of guys, so it's really a great site.
