Thanks everybody. I did not realize it was such a big deal to throw a 12' net. Heck I really had no choice, it was use dad's net or go buy smaller. I think he has a couple more nets this big but with a tighter mesh for bait. There will be a dedicated spot in the V for castnets now. I still have learning to do. I have trouble throwing over things like posts. Disturbed, what Ssiredfish said is correct. Throw like a bucket of water with one swift motion. If you ever hesitate you wont get a full open.

Dad's nets were custom made and sold by Outcast Hunting and Fishing here in Pensacola Fl. I was looking at a safe today and saw them hanging. $220 for a 12' 12lb mullet net. No oyster beds for me and I will be extra careful now.

Ridge I scaled our mullet cut each side off the backbone, and cut the head and tail off the backbone and fried backbones and skin on fillets. Talk about some good eating.
