Of coarse if I do that I'll just want something newer and stronger on the back then what I got.
Like twin Mercs?

Yea it was nice when we would go off shore. We would just use one motor at a time when we would troll. Once those finally gave out we repowered with a single 175 mariner which is now also dead. Never thought about putting 2 100s. U can find the older ones like I have cheap but dont they have to be counter rotation to work right?

nope... turning the same way will work ok... she might lean a bit but trim tabs would make short work of that problem.... when docking she would slide to one side easier than the other but then this isn't a 100' yacht.... it'd be FINE

Do you think the V20 transom can handle the weight of twin evinrude 100s? Now you got me thinking.

I just got back from taking a look at the boat alot closer but with all the rain we had I wasnt able to get any good pics. I did notice that now the steering is locked up also so I just might part it out. Hmmm twin V4s on the 78??? Thats something I just might actually be able to afford since I already got one but will it acually work?

If you're really looking at putting twins on the back of her I'd look carefully at the old(er) Merc "tower of power" engines. (Inline 6 cylinder engines with a ton of torque). The thing that makes them really nice is they are skinny and tall and light. Twin 115's would make that boat fly and would be easy on your pocketbook. If it were my boat and I was going to go twins that's the way I'd go. Just a thought.

Yall got me looking at prices of new twins vs a single. New twin 115 Optimax XS engines are about $1000 more than a single 225 Optimax XS. But Merc says the 115 XS weighs 375 lbs yet its a 3 cylinder vs a V6 225 XS which is 505lbs?!?!?!?!??
