I need a picture.. Yours is the cuddy, I have Reel's old 74 out here, what year is yours again? You basically don't want to pull on any one part too hard, (for fear of ripping and stressing the glass) but at the same time you have to be able to pull hard enough to break the bond of the putty. It is somewhat of a fine line. Shim and wedge wherever you can actually get to the top of the stringers, (ie. fuel tank access hatch)

Its an 83. I do plan on modifying the cap at the transom. The splashwell is getting cut out and the sole is getting extended to the transom where i will have a door scupper for deck drainage on each side. So maybe i can use more force in these areas. It seems i need to apply the upward pulling force between the stringers where the bond is.

How strong is the cap section over the cuddy? Will it support its own weight? Or should i lift it by the bow cleat in addition to mid and transom lifting?

Have to work tomorrow so cap lifting is planned for Sunday. I did pull the fuel tank hatch and clean some foam out. I just do not understand how its possible to remove the tank with the cap on without cutting. The tank is literrally the same size as the hole. Then you cant get to the foam to get it out. So far I have found a little rot where the lines run thru the stringers. No glass on the raw edges. I did find out that the putty between stringers and cap does not hold good. I pulled one side up a little and broke the other side loose with a flat bar. Too bad my neighbors do not like the sound of a diesel at night, I would be pulling the cap tonight. Oh well I will save it for Sunday during the day.
