Here's my suggestion;
Since Rob Wilson is in E. Falmouth at Green Pond, I say we all meet just a little east of there in Waquoit Bay on Washburn Island. This way Rob can just motor out of GP and over inside Waquoit. The rest of us have several launch points to choose from. Tempest Knob, Taylor Point Marina, several in the Fairhaven area, Woods Hole, Green Pond or even Waquoit Bay itself has a ramp. The fishing is good both inside the bay as well as outside for Stripers, Fluke, SeaBass, and Scup. Maybe even some Albies or Bonito. The Bay is protected from the wind and we can raft or beach at Washburn Island during any tide. The swimming there is also very nice with sandy beaches. There's my $.02

I 2nd that!! Never even thought about it till RW said he was at green pond! I think that would be perfect, especially since RW and MB are bring women and children. They can swim and all!
Sounds like a plan to me!! How about Monkey Butler, and Road King? I am still trying to get Kenny to go?Its just a little ride thur Woods Hole! Thanks CB !

Here is the chart for the area, you can see how close to Waquoit Bay is to Green Pond. Also even though its been a long time there is or was great fishing on the shools right out front or even a short trip to West Chop, East Chop, Middle Ground, ect...ect...

Well that obviously works for me!...that is REAL close. I've been on google earth for the last 2 weeks getting a lay of the land and had spotted Waquoit Bay and had planned on checking it out sometime over the weekend.
Lets see what the other 2 guys have to say....The only location that you guys talked about that was going to be a hike to and from by water was Barnstable (43 miles each way) and ending the day up there would have me with a long run at the end of the day. If that was where you picked I had pretty much made up my mind I would trailer over to that side. I'm sure you guys can give me all the information on Saturday but I'm trying to come up with ideas for the family on Sunday. I was thinking either Cuttyhunk or Monomoy seems like a 20 mile and 30 mile run respectively....what's your guys opinion?

I am back, so we (wife and I) should make it. There will be other wives?
Depening on wind condtions, it could be a long ride accross the bay. But right now the forcast looks good! Sat E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 1 foot or less. Now, not sure about the food thing, is this a pot luck kind of thing and if so, what should we bring? Potato salad? Or should we chip in on the costs? We also have to be back home by late afternoon as we have plans for that evening. rkc

I am bring my grill, and got a pack of dogs, and a few burgers, bag of chips, and a small container of store bought potato salad. Some drinks (water for me)
As far as were we are going it looks good for Waquoit, I have no problem with using Tempest, but trailing to Falmouth might be better for others?? But all looks good wind wise. Wifes, RW, MB, RK have the women, CB and I are just us no women. Kenny is not able to be there either. RW, Cutty i do able for ya, but Monomoy s a haul in what could be crappy water? CB and I was thinking of meeting at Tempest at 10 am, by the time we launch and get over to meet RW it will be like 11 or so. Ok just need to hear from MB and all looks good. RK I will have my grill you can use, and MB is bring one also. My thought is bring what you want and if you have extra and want to share I am sure others will do the same. I have a pack of Dogs (8) and a box of Hubba Bubba burgers with (6) and the rolls, Kept, must, relish, already to go! I know I will have one burger and a dog maybe? I don't eat much these days.So CB has to eat alot, or chuck it out? There should be some ok fishing in the area also? Fluke, Scup, Sea Bass, Stripers are a early early fish in that area so who knows?

Cool about it not being pot luck as we will also have another couple with us.
So, 12:30 in waquoit bay? Enter the bay through that little inlet and look to the west? I also have a small grill, not a "marine grill", I can take. Never thought of using it on the boat before... rkc

Would not try Monomoy, bad water and conditions and a tough ride home if you get caught out. It looks good on the map but is nasty in person. I wouldn't go any farther than Hyannis where you could see the Kennedy compound and maybe see Talor Swift hanging out at her new house. Cuttyhunk is okay but may be crowded. Tarpaulin Cove is nice and MJ could put you on some fish nearby I'm sure. Or head up Buzzards Bay if you want to see the sights. Marion, Mattapoisett, the Canal are all worth seing. Will talk to you Saturday. |
