2001 Suzuki 225 HELP!!!

Well the motor was a flop. The first thing I looked at was the housing on the lower unit, I also noticed that the paint on the lower unit was "fresh" upon further inspection I noticed grinder or flap disk marks in the side of the housing. I finally got him to admit that the housing cracked and he re welded it!!!! So I ran as fast as I could!!!!!

It was worth $500 if the engine was still good, but the lower unit is where all the money is at. Problem with welding em is it is welded together as they crack in teh threads that hold the bearing carrier in so you could never pull it apart. Probably best to pass on it as a good lower unit would set you back a grand pretty easily.
