I have had my best luck with a panel similar to this with the rubber coated toggle that also covers the hole the wire goes through. I used to go through a rocker-style panel every year for about 4 years. I've had this style for 3 years now.

Also, use only marine grade tinned wire and make sure you use heat shrink everything you can. If saltwater/spray can get inside the butt connector, it can eat through the wire within a week.

i use liquid tape, much better hen shrink wrap imo!
