Yes, there IS a bow to the transom on these boats...they are not flat...

There only flat in the very middle where teh engine bolts up, curved between there and the hull sides.

Hey thanks for the welcome.
Regarding the transom being bowed, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I could not figure out why those boards would be cut at an angle. This just added a good amount of brainpower (and I'm already at max power) in figuring how to proceed with doing this properly given my set ot tools and carpentry skills.

don't sweat it... you'll be FINE.... you don't need any speacial tools.. there are several guys here that have replaced or currently are replacing theirs.
read kracker jack's thread... he just did his transom...http://wellcraftv20.com/community/sh...ad.php?t=16692 Once you know the tricks it isn't as tough as it looks.
