if your looking for a cheap decent large reel to use occasionally for the monsters go with a diawa 900h can get a decent used one on ebay for around 40-50 bucks. they hold up pretty good, i have two for shark fishing and they handle as well as my senator 114 6/0, just be prepared to spend another 50 or more filling those bad boys with line.. I been too busy to get the boat prepped to head out of Rudy. but the fish are still there

Yeah looks like the tuna are biting better than the stripers based on reports. You been catching any striped fish Kracker?

I saw on OIFC.com that the BFT season has been closed by the NMFS so it is catch and release as of 1-22-12 at 2330 hrs.

BR, I don't thing you were supposed to go with all that happening to you.

RB - No immediate plans to go as of right now. Got the blown tranny rebuilt ($1349) and had to take it back to the shop this morning. Truck has a stumble around 50 - 60mph and has had the stumble for over a year. I always thought it was the tranny on its way out but mechanic took a ride with me yesterday and swears its a plug or a wire. We'll see.

Out buddies did end up going that weekend we were supposed to go. They made it out in the blow that Friday 1/2 day and all day Saturday. No fish friday and one keeper Saturday.....that my friends is what you call a long, tough, expensive trip. Same thing happened to us last season. Fished two days...one fish and the durn thing wasn't even a keeper!

Have not eaten striper in two years. :-(
