If you're not going for true marine grade plywood, which has no voids and made with waterproof glue, the ACX is the closest thing...but it has voids in it which can be a long term problem.....you can buy 3/4 inch XL marine ply from Boat Builder Central for like $60+....Meranti type high end stuff is over $100...even a good quality ACX is close to $40, if you can find a good quality panel.....is the 20 or 30 buck difference from a true marine ply worth it when you look at the entire scope of the project? I agree with what was mentioned above....stay away from engineered building materials like OSB or LAM...good for houses...not for boats

Default Aruaco acx plywood

Mike the ARUACO ACX 3/4 plwood at Lowes is some of the nicest looking plywood I have seen in a long time. There has not been one void that i have seen in the plywood since I started my project and I have ripped and cut 4 sheets already. Its 32.00 dollars a sheet at Lowes. All Lowes in our area sells it. I am very surprised the Lowes Aruaco ACX is as bad as what you have said unless your looking at different type of ACX.

Try a cabinet shop or a regular lumber yard/building supply house, they purchase plywood from distributors that carry ACX FIR and Marine Grade Plywood. They aren't real busy right now, might find a dealer willing to sell you a few sheets on the cheap. If you were closer I could set you up with the Marine Tech PTP KDAT for around $60.00/sheet. ACX FIR is running us $33.53/sheet if I buy a few pieces. ABX Marine Plywood from Plum Creek is $76.32. Marine Tech is cheap because I purchased many moons ago and plywood has been trending up as a commodity. Richie Rich has a point, in the long run what is an extra $100 gonna mean. Lots of ways to go, Aruaco plywood is good stuff too.

Update, ACX Auroco Mill just burned and the prices will be going up tremendously. A tidbit of info I did not have this morning.
