never put any type of compressed gas in an enclosed area, even nonflammable. O2 displacing gas(argon, CO2, halon) can cause you to suffocate, anything flammable can go boom in a big way. The welding shop used to have a pic of a car that someone put an acetylene cylinder in the trunk, when they hit the remote trunk opener, it blew, killing the driver and destroying the house that the car was parked under. Don't ever lay an acetylene cylinder down on its side either, it can stabilize the gas in the cylinder(its full of charcoal and acetone). Keep the valve caps on when you are transporting them, they will launch like rockets if you knock the valve off. Even regular compressed air in a bottle will cause explosive forces(ya'll watch myth busters don't ya) under the right conditions

Airgas has a picture of a truck and half a house blown to smithereens from an acetylene tank. I would never carry an acetylene tank in an enclosed vehicle like that. Even if i had to all the windows would be down and the back hatch would be open. Overnight the tank would be far away from anything valuable.
That guy cheated natural selection.
