I tend to be a middle of the road, try to see both sides of a discussion, type of person. It's very easy in a discussion of this type to loose one's objectivity and just blindly try and convince the other person of the correctness of your side of the issue.

So that being said, I'm trying to look at both sides of what has evolved into Reel's and Willy's discussion.

I believe that what Reel is trying to say is that Obama is a known quanity and that pretty much anyone else that runs against him is just going to be an insider also, so it really doesn't matter who it is, it's still just going to be more of the same. Just the names will have changed.

And I think what Willy is trying to say is that anyone, no matter if they are an insider or not, will be better than Obama, because of his Socialism desires for our Country.

I love this Country. It's not the most perfect, not the biggest, not the best in a lot of ways. But people are still risking their lives to come here, so we must be doing something right. If we allow our Country to become a Communist state, like Russia, then we loose all of it. All our freedoms will be gone. No matter if those freedoms are given to us by God, or by man, make no mistake, they will be gone. No freedom of worship. No freedom of speach. No freedom of assembly, No freedom to own property. Indeed, no freedom to live except under the thumb of a dictator. No elections, no changing the way we live... NOTHING except what the state wants you to have... which will be only enough to keep you alive while they suck you dry of everything you own. And if you object, they will simply kill you and make you an example and a warning to everyone else.

Now, you all have a choice in 2012. You can vote for more of the same, which will most certainly result inthe nightmare that I just described.
or
you can vote for whoever else it is that runs against the would be 1st dictator of America.

To be certain, that person may very well be flawed in ways that some people won't like. He or she may be an insider themselves. But don't you see???....we really don't have the luxury of waiting for the perfect candidate to come along!!! This is IT!!. This election is our last and only chance to start changing things! As long as they are not an avowed Socialist like Obama I say vote for them. We know that if we keep Obama we will loose our Country. So to me, I think that this is one case where we know very well the Devil we already have vs an unknown, possible devil... but also possibly someone that may actually start turning the Country around.

So my vote will go for whoever is running against Obama... Personally I hope it's Bachmann, but I'll take anyone over our present president

My friend, I may not be as blatant as you have been in the possibilities that may befall us, but i do believe our children, our decedents will hold us responsible for where our country leads.
I have hoped for a virgin candidate, none that are electable have come forward.
Some of the better candidates will not run as they have decided for personal and family reasons not to immerse themselves in our gigantic federal governments ploys.
I don't think I can blame them, Governor Mitch Daniels for one.
I do not portend to have answers beyond my mere opinions based on a life time of observation, but i do know this.
Our Nation is at a cross roads, for several decades a movement that calls itself the Progressive Movement has sought to eliminate a little at a time the guarantees of our Constitution and to institute a progressive socialist Nation..
Obama is the fruit of that movement and many otherwise good intentioned and intelligent people, such as my dear friend Ozzie have fallen into this trap.
I love the guy, plain and simple and if he needed a friend at his house tomorrow I would drop everything I have going on to be there for him for as long as he needed.
Plain and simple no questions asked.
But many people who are absolutely sickened by what are government has become do not see the forest through the trees.
I am not rosey eyed over Gingrich, nor Bachman, Santorum, Perry or Paul.
All of them have problems in my mind, and as is the norm I will have to vote knowing this.
That being said, I know that the single biggest mistake our Nation can possibly make is re-electing this Marxist.
Period.
I intend to do the best I can to ensure my kids have a free America to live in, and I will not be a party to electing this Socialist/marxist/progressive into office again.
Therefore, whoever the people decide in voting in the primaries is to be the candidate will get my support and vote.
In my opinion, doing anything else is selling your children and their future down the crapper.

You keep makin' it about politics and what might happen down the road...I suppose that's because the intent of this thread from the start was to expose a corrupt politician, who through his actions that I think should be criminalized, is operating under the banner of the GOP...had Newt been a Democrat, you'd have clicked on the "applause" icon about 10 times and that would be the end of it.

I opened this thread to shine light on the actions of a guy who is as greedy and corrupt as they come, who wants to be POTUS to elevate his misdeeds and money gathering...which behavior you seem to think he will discontinue once elected...I think that's about as unlikely as an an addict suddenly pulling the needle from his arm and developing a desire for lemonade...

The sad truth is, no matter who gets to the White House next, we are screwed...either from the right or the left, we the people gonna get it up the pooper...nobody has voted yet....the polls haven't opened...your boogey man is socialism and that it might happen...mine is criminality and what IS happening...you wanna argue politics and I wanna expose improper behavior that we may never run out of our government...and obviously we'll never convince ea/other who's point is the bigger threat...I know...let's go fishin' instead...at least we've been thinking...

I think we all can pretty much agree with this statement to some degree or another, and there in lies thecenter of the problem. This election is proving to be not much if any better than the last one. Our choices that are being pushed down our throats are not all peaches and cream like we would like, and I am very afraid that this fact will hand the 2012 election over to o again. Th GOP needs to pull there heads out of there rectums and run an actual canidate, not true blue rino's. I support Ron PAul, but I know I'm in a silent majority on this one(as evidenced by his internet support and all of the polls he keeps winning or placing at the top in that the MSM ignores). ALL of the canidates have qualities that some of us don't like, and it will be that way with all of them. and unfortunately we have to AGAIN pick the lesser of the 2 evils(as I just don't see Ron Paul being able to get past the MSM bias against him). And after a few searches and videos, I for one don't find his foreign policy that far off track myself, or at least not like most people think his views are. His views are not completely inline with my own, but there is one HUGE redeeming factor to him. He is a CONSTITULIONIST and will do EVERYTHING in his power to return us to what our founders set forth for us in the CONSTITUTION.

These ARE GOD given rights that were guaranteed to us by our founders set forth for us by that document that our current administration wipes it's A$$ with. They ARE GOD given rights, but tyranical governments are tearing them away from us at gunpoint if they see fit.

And I will agree with WILLY that I think in o's second term he will not hold back and go into OVERDRIVE in his pursuit of socialism and redistribution of wealth. In his 2nd term he will have no incentive to hold back, but will have EVERY incentive to plow ahead with his plan that his MASTER wants(yes I feel he is a puppet, but I won't take this that direction right now). He needs to be STOPPED, but not at the expense of bringing in more of the same.

With our current administration, and the choices we have to choose from. It seems to me that maybe our nation is heading for collapse that is unstoppapble at this point in time. The question will be will the socialist's have teh ground work set forth for there takeover, or will we will still have enough left to take back our country when the fit hits the shan? Or is there a chance that somebody who can salvage what is left will get into office, and force those corrupt souls out? I find this one tough since the President is but one person out of the over 500 souls in DC. And with so many suckling on the gubment tit, how can we get the bad ones out and enough good ones in to stop it?

Well I'll stop rambling now as I need to get to work.

Well, if you'll allow me an observation...If Newt had been a Democrat the left wing news media of the Democratic party would have run it as a 1 inch column on page 25 of the NY Times, the Democratic would have circled the wagons and defended his actions by pointing fingers at other people and saying they were to blame and the TV media would have simply stopped reporting it after one day...in effect sweeping it under the rug so that it would go away.

If you want to find the one biggest problem in our Country it is the corruption and take over of our news media by the Democratic party. As long as the news gets "filtered" with the bias of one party or another it will never be news, just opinions mascarading as news. Not reporting the faults of one side of the asile, while at the same time picking out or simply making up lies about the other side, and then presenting them as facts on the 6 oclock news is, to me at least, much more of a criminal act than someone making some money as an advisor. One only has to look at Sarah Palin or more recently Herman Cain to see the lengths that the media will go to destroy a person they deem to be a threat to the Democratic party. Only completely unbiased, unfiltered news will be able to shine the light of truth on the corruption that presently resides in Washington, BC.

Reel, you pointed a finger at Newt in this thread, and I do tend to agree with you, but lets be honest about this... while Newt may have been making money as an advison, there were a ton of democrats in Congress that were to blame just as much, if not more, then Newt. Barney Frank instantly comes to mind, but there were a host of others. Both sides of the asile were reaping the cash from Freddie Mac and Fannie May.

I, as stated already elsewhere in this discussion, tend to also like Ron Paul, exactly for the reasons that TheFermanator just pointed out. But I still have a problem wrapping my arms around his stance on 9/11. He's stuck with it, I give him that, no flip-flops, but to say that we were responsible for 9/11... that we deserved it, is simply more than I can stomach.

And finally, to others that have made comments in this thread, and strictly as a observation, please allow me to point out that although certain rights may very well be "God given", the person that has the guns is that one that actually does or does not allow them. For example, it's useless to say that God has given me the freedom of speach when there is a person with a gun pointed at me telling me to shut up and that "if you speak about this or that subject I will kill you".
