This is an @ss-backwards idea but what if you sold the etec and put a solid used motor in its place....put some dough in your pocket and still keep the boat. Problem is, you'd still lose money. Dangit, why can't boats/motors be a good monetary investment??
I like the trailer idea too, provided you have somewhere to store it. I am in the same situation with my 2 daughters 14 and 12. Not only is that staring me down but my job is not likely to exist within the next 1 - 2 years. Hoping to scrape by somehow some way.........

Theres an idea. Lumber can sell me his Etec and I'll trade him my 99' 200 Ocean Pro plus cash. Just bolt on and plug in. He gets some cash and keeps the boat and I get a newer motor, win win. Now sell me that Etec Lumber.
