I always believe a "leak" can flow both ways...when a motor that does what we're talking about is sitting at rest w/no pressure from the pump, does anything seep back into the motor?...if so, does that cause any problems?...

No, because the powerhead sits above the water so the pressure isn't strong enough to push against gravity.
