The plan is to start anchoring up at the north end of the pack near and or north of the board walk that you can use to cross over to the beach. Looking forward to seeing you and any other Jersey boys....I know there is lots of us!

Unhappy

Oh well... it was a nice thought. Trailered down, put the boat in the water near Lanoka Harbor.... noticed that the tell-tale wasn't pissing like it should... figured something was caught in the hose or whatever. Pulled the cowl to check hoses and smelled gas... looked down and saw gas dripping from my VRO/fuel pump. Pulled it off at the dock... bad diaphragm. Now I have to find one. Got a quote from the marina...Guy there told me that OMC stopped making replacement parts for my VRO pump about 5 years ago... but he'd be very happy to sell me a whole new one for roughly $500. Put the boat back on the trailer and came home. (It's been a bad day)...... There is no way on God's green earth that I'm going to pay $500 for a piece of rubber the size of a mayonnaise jar lid!! I'll go hunting on Monday... Hope you guys at Tices had a better day than I did...

Oh, and did I mention that I also need to replace my water pump impeller?....<sigh>

Hmmmm..... so they were trying to scam me? Nice. :( I was told by 2 different marinas that they stopped making those parts about 5 years ago and that an entire unit would cost in the neighborhood of $450. Then add 7% NJ sales tax to that figure and it's near the $500 mark I posted in my original message. Do you know how much the entire units cost? Just wondering if they were scamming me on that part also.

As it turns out, I found a used VRO pump from a marina in Budd Lake that I know of that sells used parts. Not an exact match on the metal flange that attaches to the pump and the block, but it was an easy swap to my flange since all the holes lined up. Cost me $10 and about 60 miles of gas from where I live. The electronics on the used pump were bad, but they are an exact match for my pumps electronics (which are good) so long story short, after several hours of driving, matching and tinkering the pump is back on the engine and working fine. Since I run premix anyways, I wasn't worried about the VRO side of the pump, only the gas side.
