It's an election pre-year.. Do you really think that the press is going to print anything, no matter how slight, that might make the present administration look bad? They're so far up his rear they can see his stomach.

Sounds like the fishin and tourism is back up...keeping in mind the economy...I think they aren't talkin about it much because any mention of it puts a question in the minds of tourists who would go there...from what I've heard, I'd book a guide trip down there inna heartbeat...

We never saw any oil along the western LA shoreline. A tarball was found about a mile west of us, but analysis from BP Chemists said not from their well. My front yard is the Gulf of Mexico and I did not see a drop over here. I agree that the DEAD ZONE in the gulf is a bigger concern from runoff now. I've seen miles of dead fish floating on top out to 65 nm offshore, particularly in 2003. This year our fishing was off to a great start, then the large amount of runoff coming down the Mississippi appears to have either run the fish out or worse. With winds less than 12 mph we usually see green water on the beach and good fishing, now it's like chocolate most of the time.

Every river, creek, stream that has very little or no buffer zone from us is seeing the effects. We have killed some off up here by logging to close and eroiding away everything and letting the cattle near or in them ruins them real fast. Not a good spot we have put our selves into.

Redneck, you aren't saying the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has affected rivers, creeks and streams in Alberta, Canada, are you?

Closest the closure (not oil) ever got to our town in the big bend area was 164 miles. Our fishing and scalloping is going gangbusters. All us guides are busy. Last year was fine too.
