Book says 55 ft lbs of torque on that engine. I usually go around 45-50 on mine. (1991 200 hp Merc) Make sure you Never-seez the shaft before you reassemble.
![]() Safety tip for anyone... when you work on a prop, MAKE SURE that the key is in the off position, the positive wire to the battery is disconnected and the spark plug leads are disconnected at the engine. 2 cycle engines can start very easily and lots of people have gotten very nasty injuries because the engine kicked while they were working on the prop.
