Fastest V ever !!

Top end of 47 mph on a V is very good - means you can cruise at 30 + all day long when conditions allow.

For most non speed boats thats the " sweet spot " for all purpose use.

This is the silly thread, not the realistic thread. Like having a nice older station wagon with a worked 454 and posi rear set up to run 12 second quarter miles, but also ok for every day use.

Why not? It is a lot of fun on the relatively cheap. It is a great hull, loaded with space and handles well with the extra speed. Speed hulls are generally designed for one purpose and I have yet to see a 20' center console go fast that is a good fishing machine. I want to keep a livewell full of pogies or threadfin alive at 60 while I run to my favorite snook hole, in the shade of the t-top, while enjoying the radio and be able to stop and grill somethin good for my 4 passengers for under $20K.
If my 250 Merc wasn't reliable I wouldn't own it.
The car motor is more reliable than the outboard in most cases. Seaworthy and reliable is very important, I couldn't agree more.
Granted, top end speed is not useable in some conditions. That will be the case if your V tops out at 35 or 70. The captain has the tiller and the go stick, the ultimate decision, when and where to use the POWER.. is up to the driver.
I congratulate UBHSTRY for a great build, testing and thanks for sharing. I am personally out of coin to chase any more MPH, thanks BGREEN

BGREENE, with 3 E's, sorry bout that. The money I have spent on making the V a little faster, Yes I need the bat on the head.
I just saw this post. I was giving you credit for starting the "Any Faster" thread which is what inspired and challenged me to try and go faster with the V. I believe my exact words were, "I ain't skeered." The bat in hand smiley, did not mean that I wanted to assult you. It was meant to be humorous, I was blaming you for the fact that I have a little less walking around money. Insert the embarrassed smiley here followed by the smiley with his mouth wide open and then the thumbs up one.

I hear ya, and to each his own, I've been over 100mph in a boat with a 2cylinder merc (a bit modified & running avgas!) The hull weighed just over 100lbs. I like going fast too, at least I used to....

Maybe I'm just getting old :-(

im new here so this is my first post...my 73 20v centerconsole hits 49.2 on gps and when im in a light chop it gets a little hairy...its fun to go fast but like the other guy said you only see it 2-3 times when ur itching or wanna pass the weekend warrier in the channel..these 20v hulls are unmatched in the ride game..at 32 mph crusing i can still take alot more than most boats my size in 3 footers(worst case)..thanks for the info guys and keep em alive..

I love streching out my F150 Yamaha. It is great flying over smooth water at 48-50mph. That is really about all it has, still on spinning around 5300 rpm. Boat rides real good that fast. We normally cruise thru big chop at around 35 just to stay on top of the waves. Got into some bigger wind blown rollers yesterday in Pensacola Bay. They where running 3-4 ft and I had to go real slow due to the wife being with us. That was a long, bumpy ride. Once I dropped her off we took our V on a faced pace trip up Bayou Texar, wide open. It is a great feeling being trimmed up and flying.
