Skool, yes I do have the lower unit. Like I said It is completely torn apart right now, why I am not sure. It looks like someone just started taking things apart and didn't know when to stop. it will be Sunday before I can get additional photos.

I was hopin' Skools would come to your rescue before you torqued those heads back down and tried restart...that could have done some damage by itself...you in good hands now though...better than Allsnake...LOL!!

While you got the lower unit off, go ahead and replace all water pump components..ALL of 'em...and make sure that new rubber impeller gets twisted in right...

Reel, I wasn't even going to try and torque them back down. I don;t even own a torque wrench. And I am pretty sure the should be "head gaskets" there that also seem to be missing. I am going to meet Skool next weekend and entrust his judgement to whether it is salvagable

Clarification to earlier post.

Skool, yes I do have the lower unit, intact but it is detached, why I don't know. Maybe to replace impeller, may just because there were visible bolts??? I really think they just started removing any bolt they could access. As I ppointed out in the picture both head gaskets are unbolted, gaskets missing, as well as the the square cover with a spring unit inside at the top of the head gaskets, and the sensors on them are loosened as well.

Skool:

Here are pictures of the cylinder walls... I don't see any scoring of them, they all feel smooth to me.
