Cancel credit cards prior to death

I'll tell you thats really not that unbelievable....when my mom passed away in October my dad had to jump through a thousand hoops to straighten out crap like joint checking accounts and credit cards and stuff.....he actually had some conversations not too terribly unlike that one.
