My boat currently has anti-fouling bottom paint on it. I do not need it seeing as it is a trailered boat. Not to mention that I am making some cosmetic upgrades and the blue bottom does not quite go with the new fighting lady yellow paint.

I have several spots on the bottom needing repair, some chips through the gel-coat and a tire rub from a broken trailer axle. Seeing as these large repairs are needed my thought was to make the repairs and repaint the bottom with a smooth factory looking paint. Any thoughts on Interlux VC Performance Epoxy http://www.riversupply.com/product/I...poxy,2272.aspx Application, durability or any experience in general? It seems to be just what I am looking for. Any suggestions for equal or better alternative. I do not want to go the gel-coat route. I already have everything I need for paint.

I have looked into soda blasting but it's out of the budget. There is a 40lb. soda blast tank at harbor freight that I looked into also. Still considering it, it's cheap but small and it will probably take just as long as sanding. As of right now it looks like I will be under the boat with my respirator and DA sander for days. I sanded the fouling paint from the sides of my boat before I painted it and it sucked. I don't expect it to be easy.

Have you thought of blasting the hull with crushed pecan or walnut shells?

I have not, it was my understanding soda was the best method. I have not heard much about other blasting methods. Do you have some input on the matter?
