You should not have to purchase another wheel or anything else for that matter...the new cable comes complete w/all you'll need... I can't see your boat, but who and why is it being recommended you change the route of the existing cable?... ![]() http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=10470 The above link is for the Teleflex 4.2 system...follow the chart here http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...nical-Steering for ordering the correct length...go ahead now and remove the center-cap and nut/washer on your steering wheel now and soak the center-pin down w/some rust penetrant spray...let it soak for a day or so, then tap the center pin w/a hammer while pulling out on the wheel...repeat daily til your new cable comes in...it oughtta let go by then...if not, let us know and we'll tell you how to get it off...and you may as well start pulling the rod-holder insert from inside the boat on the starboard side...you'll need to access under the gunwale there... On some boats the engine DOES have to be removed...but sometimes marinas, etc will say that when it may not be needed...it will depend on how straight a shot it is from where the cable comes outta the splashwell and into the steering (tilt) tube...if you determine the engine DOES have to come off, let us know and we'll walk you thru it...the good news is, the engine only has to be SEPARATED from the transom(not moved far) and the tilt-tube lined up w/where the cable is coming from...you gotta HANG it from STOUT tree limb or garage/carport beam...LET US KNOW IF YOU NEED ADVISE ON THIS... I've had 2 of these systems on my boats and recommend them highly...short of hydraulic steering, it's the best way to go...
