Thanks,

That was my first assumption so I did as you said shortly after I posted yesterday. The coil checked out when moved to another cylinder so it was not getting signal to fire.

Unfortunately it seems my problem is intermittent and is going to require some more tracking down. Messing with it today, I now have spark only on the #1 and #2 cylinders with or without the yellow wires removed. I guess I will move on to the next step and check the stator.

My moneys on the power pack, I'd be willing to even wager money on it. You NEED a peak reading volt meter to properly diagnose an OMC ignition system, unfortunately theres no way around it. Check the resistance on teh stator to ground and make sure that is good, if it is I would be willing to wager money on a failed power pack.

go with what Ferm said. My Proline was only missing on two, I cleaned the coil grounding straps, got it to just one missing, tehn went back and checked the outputs, power pack was bad, after I replaced it, I found one of the otehr coils wasn't grouding corectly, ended up putting a new power pack on it, and four new coils

Thanks guys,

I will check the resistance tomorrow. The cheapest peak volt meter I found after a quick search was $290.00.

I think I will just buy the power pack if the resistance checks out.

If you have a basic volt meter that uses the standard bananna plugs, you can buy a PRV adapter from CDI for about $75. That's what I use.

The stator resistance checks out according to the guide. After some more research it does appear the power pack is going to be the most likely cause.

Thanks for the help guys, It will probably be a week or so before I order the power pack. I will update when I get it in and installed..
