As to the original discussion, I think for a marriage to succeed you have to be honest with your partner. So living a lie like that would be very hazardous to one's marriage IMHO.

i got one about 12 years ago and after the procedure, the doc told my wife and myself we would need to use "protection" for the first 4 or 5 times to be safe

Don't forget to get it checked. A friends of mine's wife got pregnant 10 years after the op. Sometimes they tubes "reconnect", and yes it was his...

When he first told me his wife was pregnant, I was speechless...
