Part prices really vary around here, marinas being the highest. If you can wait a little parts are usually 5-about 30% cheaper online-some offer free shipping. Im very lucky, my best bud is a Yamaha/Mercury dealer, he gives me his cost....the mark up can be crazy! I have also found the mark up in general boat parts is significant....didnt realize how much until I saw his cost on items. We have a West Marine 'Express' down the road and some items I've see are 100% markup!!

I used to work in the retail. It's common for a retail business to mark up items 100% or more. The reason is for inventory shrinkage (shoplifting), overhead, etc. Not too bad when the item costs $5...but when it costs $500 that's a pretty steep markup.
