have heard local reports of a light film and oily smell. i know divers who have dumped their gear in fresh water vats after diving and had an oil film come to the surface. i promise that much oil did not just "disappear" or get eaten by microbes. i think it settled and will slowly rise and be washed ashore over many years to come.
