Default Prop for 1997 Johnson Oceanrunner on 97 Hydra Sports Vector 2000CC.

I am currently running a 14.8x17 aluminum after switching from a 15x19 that was not getting enought RPMS. i am now getting 5200-5300 and would like to now go stainless. i was thinking about a 15 3/4 inchx 15 pitch Rebel by BRP. What do you guys think. i figured at WOT I am losing and inch of pitch or so with the aluminum.

What do you want the boat to do? Less pitch = more power for pulling and the like, more pitch = more speed but less power. You went from a 19 to a 17, and now you want to go to a 15, but 3/4 of an inch wider dia. than the original 19. First off can you swing that dia without hitting anything? If so I would do like countless others have advised in the past on this site.. try before you buy. There is nothing worse than having a brand new $450 prop sitting in your garage because you don't like the preformance. Most marinas that sell props will have test props you can use to find what you are looking for. Stainless or aluminum, as long as you are hitting your engines WOT rpms you are in the sweet spot. Too low rpms, downpitch, to high rpms, uppitch. There are too many variables for anyone here to be able to make anythig other than a general call on what prop or pitch you need. The weight of your boat, the number of people, how much gear, is it bottom painted, what kind of water (smooth or choppy) and a ton of other things I've forgotten... all can effect your selection.

If it's a 200 then yes the 15 3/4" X 15 should be just about ideal, if it's a 225 then you'll probably want to get a 15 pitched to a 16, or try a 17 small diamater prop.

Just bought a 15.5x17 Rebel prop. Couldn't pass up $350 price for brand new. now hope it works, but shouldn't have problem getting money back out if it does not they retail for about $600 at dealer.

I can get a 15.75x15 if the 17 does not work.

Go with the 15. I can barely spin my 17 up to where I want to, and that's with close to 240HP at the prop. A 200 will have a HARD time trying to spin that big of a prop up. And also I have noticed that the new aluminum props seem to spin less RPM's than there stainless counterparts lately.
