Does it do it while shifting? Or is it after it shifts? Have you tried to bypass the shift interrupt switch yet to see if that is it?

Go back to your shift linkage and look for a small switch with 2 wires connected to it. DIsconnect one of those wires and see if it still dies going into gear. Your shift linkage may just be out of adjustment or your shift cable could be bad. Also be prepared to shut the engine off to get it back out of gear. Without the shift interrupt switch connected it will be a BEAR to get out of gear if you've never done one like that before.

Make sure the electric choke is working properly. I recenlty had a similar problem, albeit it was running a little rough in neutral, it would die when going in gear. Take off the flame arester and make sure it is not being choked. I had to run with a set of pliers stuck in carb to keep the choke open to get home one time.

to get it home i had to keep it in neutral and have my buddy manually run the throttle as i put it into gear once i did that it ran fine other than the carb being loaded with fuel and had to clear out. that is why im leaning more toward a carb, float, power valve or something like that. what do you think. i will for sure check the shift interrupter. thanks for all the help!!!!

Look down the carb throat while someone pushes the throttle forward and see if its dumping gas. What model year and what engine is it? Nevermind about the motor question,I don't type very fast.

Typically where the shift cable from the helm and the cable to the drive pivot.
