man I just learned something new about a Constables duty......I had no idea there even was such a thing as anymore......bet you can rack up some crazy stories in dealing with people.

al least in nj you have somebody to enforce civil judgements. down here in fl, you get a judgement and if they do not own property to put a lien against, there is not a whole lot you can do. even with a judgement , the only people who can garnish wages are child support. at least that has been my experience as a landlord

We have township constables in each of the 9 townships in Indianapolis for the small claims ($6000 or less) courts. The Sheriff of the county (which is what is also the city limits) picks up everything above that. They are all elected officials who work hard to effectuate legal service, but they do not have any duties regarding collection of debts here in Indianapolis. I am a lawyer, and although I do not specialize in debt collection by any means, I have tried to collect debts for my clients, and it is really hard. I wish I had Willy helping me do it!
