You are trying to apply simple American common sense, the problem with that is our national government lives by its own rules, does not follow the constitution and its members are mostly attorneys trained in very left leaning, actually socialist taught schools that are about as far from the real America that you can get and still be in this country.
Our two legger in Chief is the quintesential example of that mentality and the fruits it has born, along with the profiling issue if Americans do not change it soon it will be our demise.

I would support profiling at airports....somehow the word profiling has been confused with "racial profiling" in regards to the whole airport problem. The current situation is that to screen everybody at an airport TSA has to hire anybody that can breathe and fill out an application to fill all the postions required. We certainly cant count on these indivduals to have the discretion on who to search on not to search. The entire system needs to be overhauled.....we need to start profiling and checking those potential few that fit the profile and have them screened by people that are experts in their field at this kind of thing..... Just picture some 22 year old TSA kid standing at the head of hte line saying you....no not you....you.....never going to happen. Until a complete change in the system is implemented 80 year old ladies will have to be screened.

I'm sure some of our brothers on this site can attest to my premise, but (and please correct me if I'm wrong) profiling is the basis of all good police work. And by police work, I would include all phases from the highest levels of government to the guys pounding the streets to protect and serve we the citizens. Profiling should include all the tools available to them including race, gender, nationality, weight, height, whatever needed.
If a convenience store is robbed and the police are called, they need to know as many details of the person that committed the crime. They can do nothing to help us with, "it was a person of middle age that made off with my cash register". If me, being a slightly overweight( ) white male is seen frequenting a neighborhood that's predominately made up of drug dealers of color, what would you assume I am doing there. Buying drugs right? So there's a safe argument that if the police do their job and stop me for questioning and I'm subsequently arrested for possession of drugs, the police have effectively done their job to help stop crime in the neighborhood. My point is; I support all aspects of effective profiling if it makes us safer

Really, all you have to do is read the local newspapers and make a list of who gets arrested for what crimes and it is amazing the pattern that smacks you up side the head. (said fecesiosly) NO need for profiling....
