in the older boats they drilled a 3" hole under the seat and used a 1/ moon type plate to bolt to also, no be surprised to find it. Just move seat back and put deck plate there after to cover hole

Well i tried and tried drilling those bolts with no luck, so i took out the heady duty stuff(my grinder) and cut across the base plate where the screws were and voila, pedestal is out. I can still reuse the same pedestal, all i have to do is 5200 around the base after install and done.
What i'm going to do though is plug the tube on the bottom so water does not collect and drain in the screw holes, then drill a hole at the lowest part of the tube above the base and the water drains on top of the plate.
