talked to a couple of guys that work on far more Honda's than I do, they are telling me that they are seeing a lot of corrosion on the Hondas, as compared to the Yamaha's and Mercs. I haven't worked on enough of them to say for myself, but I will add that I'm starting to see some serious corrosion issues on Suzukis four strokes around here that I'm not seeing on Yamahas or Mercs

where would they be corroding spare, along the exhaust area? I am asking cause I may repower and not sure what with yet and the Suzuki I saw at my marina a while back had brownish staining around the exhaust area of the motor.

don't know on teh Honda's, but on teh Suzukis I'm seeing large amounts of paint flaking off behind the lower cowl panels, I've seen several with corrosion adn leaks around the "pipe" plugs in the exhaust addapter. I noticed a lot of paint missing from the lower units of a pair around where th lower unit bolts on adn around the water pick ups. But let me clarify something, these motors are 6-8 years old and are in high salt, high temp waters. I can't vouch for the owners flushing them or washing them, Its just I'm starting to notice more of it on Suzukis than I did a year or two ago.If you have a Suzuki, I strongly recomend taking the lower cowls off from time to time to wash the area, touch up any missing paint, and just a general inspection. By teh way, take care of your trim system, I just got thru replacing a trim motor($530), trim resevoir($130, the seal leaked water into the unit and shorted the motor out, the seal is not replacable, you have to replace the resevoir), and both selenoids($92 each, apparently after the trim motor shorted, it fried the selenoids), add labor to that and it gets real expensive for a trim system.
