Let's say your morning routine is to drop your 2yr old and 4yr old off at daycare every morning before you go to work...you have walked them into the daycare building and while yer sayin' yer howdydos to the staff and kissing the loves of your life goodbye for the day, a guy walks in wearing a loaded handgun strapped to his thigh. Some on this thread advocate it's OK to wear weapons on your person in open, public places. I'm just wondering if a daycare center is an appropriate place for one to demonstrate that right...just because he can. And keep in mind, you don't know this person, don't know his background, training in gun-saftey or anything else about him.

The real problem seems to be that people are not taught safety in all matters now and that common sense isn't the same anymore. I understand what reel is trying to say, but also look at the facts. How often do you hear of somebody committing these truely vial gun crimes in a an open fashion? People who do these kinds of things are the ones trying there best to conceal and hide there intentions until the last possible second. One of the reasons they do this is to try and make sure that armed citizens are NOT there to prevent them, or so they can target them first. It's an old saying but it is as true today as ever, "Gun's don't kill people, people kill people". And the people that use guns for crimes will continue to find guns to commit crimes, or they will find some other way to do what there twisted mind is going to do. To me the real problem is the lack of enforcement by society on people who commit these crimes. Many times the people that do these crimes give signs of there intentions or have been building up to it, but because people say they are just different or whatnot they're left alone until the unthinkeable happens. People like the one in question do not concern me, it's the ones you can't obviously see that do.
