It's ironic...the one guy, Colin Powell, who could save the Republican Party, they shoo away with both hands...yeah, he voted for Obama, because he knew from the inside what was to come if McCain/Palin had gotten in, but if the Reps would court him instead of decrying him, he could bring unity, sensibility and CREDIBILITY back to a very disjointed conservative right...and from what I've seen, they need it reel bad...I'd vote for him as a Republican today...

i was joking too i knew what you meant. im not sure why powell did what he did but everyone is intitled to his own vote. There are things that i disagree with with the repubs but there are alot more things i disagree with from the dems. I would like my presidential candidate choices to be like everything else, more than two choices.

reel, how do you feel we would have been in worse shape with McCain/palin? just curious

I am not a big fan of Mcain, Palin was good but overwhelmed with media hype. In spite of that we would have still been better with both of them by a big margin. Having said that I would like to say further that none of the above would have been my first choice.
In fact unless we get someone who is comitted to reducing the size and scope of the federal government we are in a world of sh!t. We are on an unsustainable spiral made worse by Bush and now catastrophic by the Obamination.
We cannot sustain the dollar at the current pace, we are dependent on the chinese for crying out loud to maintain our dollar and economy and our unfunded mandates will be bankrupt within a decade. SS Medicare, medicaid.
And yet the Statist in office now want to pile on more unfunded mandates and want us to pay for it when we are already criminally over taxed.
We are in a lot of trouble unless we manage to hold off the agenda of this socialist two legger in office now and prevent another re-appointment of the majority we have now in the 2010 election.
We need some out right government cutters in office and soon, I dont care what party, I don;t care what skin color, or nationality. but if we dont all demand that the federal government be reduced in power and forced to act in a responsible fiscal fashion, get our borders secured, establish some common sense immigration reform and have an open honest dialogue about how to pay down our overwhelming national debt we are going to go into a period of hyper inflation and the dollar will be worthless abroad as currency.
And though some will say they are alarmists fellows like Limbaugh, Hannity, Lou dobbs and thousands of other conservatives see it coming and anyone with common sense can too

All those "main stream" media hacks are half the problem.

I think I'll ask Tsubaki and Fishing with Blue if I can go hunting with them on Wassaw and just not come back.

I couldn't agree w/Willy more than I do...we ARE headed down a bad road, but it's due to the political systems we now have in place more than just one "two-legger"...all the lies and BS flyin' around from both sides don't help anything except they'll help inflate the frustration we all feel about our government which will lead to all of us acting and doin' something about it...wish we could do away w/all government (except the militarty) for long enough to reconstruct it into a smaller entity than it is today w/less intrusion into our lives...

but we DO need to take care of those who don't have the financial wherewithall to do for themselves(no, I'm NOT talkin' about illegals)...the insurance magnates have allowed or better encouraged the outrageous prices we pay for healthcare as it contributes to their profits...today your 'out-of-pocket' is what the care actually should cost and the rest that the insurance pays is GRAVY...

We need a "Common Sense" party in this country and clean all the BS outta here...particularly career politicians, earmarks and lobbyists...

Geo Bush lied to us all, insulted this nation, abused his powers and his office and profited from it all in ways I will always feel like should be prosecuted in a court of law...

I felt compelled to vote for the option as diametrically opposed to everything his party stood for, for putting him into office in the first place...he had an agenda going in; to wage war in order to profit from it...and I heard nothing from McCain/Palin to make me think anything would change...I had had all I could stand from that camp...

And one other thing...there are a lot of God-Fearing people out there, I don't want to offend any of them as I respect those sincere in their beliefs...but people who lead in government w/their religion are as scary to me as any terrorists the middle east can produce...Palin said our troops were in Iraq "doing God's work"...that scares me...Bush nominated Harriet Meyers to a seat on the Supreme Court...she scares me for the same reason...I don't believe religion should be in government anymore than I believe government should be in religion(consider the implications of the latter)...if ya wanna put "In God We Trust" on our money and the 10 Commandments on the courthouse, that's OK w/me...but a nation who kills people and prosecutes others under the banner of "Doing God's Work" SHOULD fail...

IMO there is a chasm of difference between God and religion...and there are too many religions out there who are confused about God...
