I have got to chime in, maybe this has nothing to do with the discussion,
but last evening I came home from work and my wife had teh Sundance channel on. They have a habit of playing controvertial docmentaries. Last eveningthey played the one "No End in Sight" about the Iraq war and all the lies that were told to get teh U.S. into this thing. They also went into all the greed corruption and how much money was actually wasted. I highly recomend you watch it, Dem, Rep, Green, No party, your blood will boil. My son told me about it and I thought oh well another propoganda film, no way, they use facts, eye witness', Iraqi interviews and news stories that never made it to the U.S. mainstream media. Again if you can catch it on TV or I know you can get it through Netflix, but I don't know if the local video stores will have it - YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS.

Ok, so I suppose with that being said, let's bring out how Woodrow Wilson secretly had our U-boat fleet off our east coast, claimed they were German and sunk the Lusitania saying the Germans did it just so we could get involved in WWI. Oh, and the fact that we only protected those countries that owed us a huge financial debt at the time(i.e. France & Britain). As for WWII, though it was seen as a "European conflict", remember that FDR was blood thirsty and actually taunted the Japanese into bombing Pearl Harbor. Actually, it was the secret bombings/murders by the US against Japan ordered by FDR that taunted them. All in all, we're just big bullies, huh? Yeah. If you search enough you will find even more further-fetched conspiracy theories about all wars and all politicians. |

I try to not mix boats and poly-tics. But I do have a Senator Franken prediction:
One term. Now go on y'all and get back to talking about V-20s, feeeshin, and pretty girls! EDIT: So I go to cnn.com and this is what I see about Franken: FRANKEN'S FIRST GOAL: DOGS FOR VETS Newly-minted Sen. Al Franken, D-Minnesota, unveiled his first legislative goal Monday ***8212; providing funding to train dogs to work with wounded veterans. "Service dogs ***8230; can be of immense benefit to vets suffering from physical and emotional wounds," Franken wrote in a column. "Yes, they provide companionship. But they can also detect changes in a person's breathing, perspiration or scent to anticipate and ward off an impending panic attack with some well-timed nuzzling. They are trained to let their masters know when it's time to take their medication and to wake them from terrifying nightmares." The Minnesota Democrat also said there is evidence to show that this kind of program could help reduce the suicide rate among veterans. "Frankly, I believe it is enough simply to improve the lives of those of whom we asked so much," Franken wrote. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...dogs-for-vets/ Now, I'm not a fan of Franken's politics. But hey, you can't deny that this is a positive beginning. But I do believe that $25,000 per dog figure is a stretch. I know folks who train service dogs for the blind, so I'll ask them and see if that's a reasonable figure, or if that's the $600 hammer kind of price.
