BS is a stand up guy...I hope you gave him some fresh flatty meat MJ. Look at it this way - you are just getting the bugs out. Should be smooth sailing from here on.
Also if you haven't sent a nice rod/reel to Davey Jones Locker, then you aren't a true fisherman. I've sent at least 3. Actually 4 if you count the one we lost last trip out....it wasn't mine. ![]() Its just like fouls in basketball IMO. Chit happens. Hey one time a dam dredging operation wedged me up against a dock as I was passing through a channel. I broke one rod in half on the dock and the rear bimini strap got hung and snapped in half as well. That was one heck of a close encounter! The dude had the diesel engine on that thing maxxed out and he was still pushing in on me! Cleaned my drawers and went fishing anyway.

MJ - It's my pleasure to help out . . . I'm glad that we could work right in the garage. Not sure what to do to prevent those fouling plugs in the future . . . They were all black and oily so perhaps a healthier mix of oil and gas or adding the oil before you pump. Anyhoo . . . it was neat to see 2 bad plug wires arching on the block at night. I think you're good to go for a while . . . catch some damn flukes would yah!! I would give my left nut for my fluke permit back and a few days off to fish the secret spots. I'm so looking forward to Commercial Bass Season . . . night time fishing is going to be my only chance to get'm this year.
Hey you didn't tell me about the rod going overboard . . . so sorry . . . that was a sweet rod too. Last edited by bigshrimpin; 07-08-2009 at 12:35 PM. |

Bigshrimpin/MJ...long ago on my old gas-suckin' Rude, my outboard tech told me the following; when idling/trolling, tilt the motor a little forward so the "top" of the cylinders are up instead of down...he went on to say(as we all know), 2 strokers never burn ALL the oil in the cylinder on firing...tilting the motor up a bit reduces the amount of unburned oil building up in the "top" of the cylinder (which is where the spark-plug is) thus reducing fouled plugs. After he told me that, I started tilting the old Rude up as he suggested and never was bothered w/fouled plugs again...have you guys ever heard this from anywhere else?...
