Very cool brother, my wife and I did a 34 day cross country job, BC(before children) in our VW Rabbit, camping out of it and every few day staying in a hotel. We were at a lot of the places you are at.
Enjoy

Cross country trips by vehicle are great.

I have driven from Reading, Pa. to Los Angeles, Ca. about 6 or 7 times to visit my sons.
I have helped my sons with teh drive as well and to save time we drove straight through, I drive daylight while they sleep and then I sleep at night. 32 hours is our record.
When my wife and I do it, we take different routes every time, so much to see.
The first trip my wife said to me, " what the 4e77 am I going to do in a car for 3 days with you"? After that first trip, she was so in awe of teh country, she can't wait for our next trips.

I always say to everyone, it is a trip worth taking.
