Way back in the 60's a lot of high end boats such as the Formula's and Etc. came with something called "Nautolex". It was a vinyl floor covering typically applied over plywood that looked similar, but with a narrower board pattern. I've seen it in many boats and it worked a little better than the indoor/outdoor carpeting of the Bayliner days. I still like the saying "carpet can hide a multitude of sins". If that's decking boards, what a waste of time.

I'm thinking about putting roofing shingles on my vinyl bimini top - thoughts? Good idea, bad? It is not leaking yet, I'm just trying to make sure it doesn't. Open to other options - tin, metal, cool seal, etc.

Shubey, thanks for the suggestion. That sounds like a GREAT idea!!! I'd get all the waterproofing benefits AND my boat would be GREEN!!

Another question - I have a lot of terra-cota flower pots (no flowers). Do you think I could cut them in half with a masonry saw and make my own shingles? I'm open for suggestions.
