I took my v-20 cc out for a cruise the other night with 5 adults and my 3 year old daughter. At WOT the motor reached just under 5200 rpm's and gps said we were going 37 mph. The motor is a 92 150 evinrude and I think the rpm's should be around 5600-5800.My prop is 14.5 by 19 and was thinking about going to a 14.5 by 17.What are your thoughts and am I burning more fuel and putting extra stress on my motor by running my current prop. By running the 17 pitch will I lower my top end ? Thank in advance for your advice.

A lot of guys are running 17 pitch, I use to have a cuddy and carried heavy loads all the time. Mine was best with a 15 x 15 1/2

I've got a 40 gallon capacity and usually run light. For me, the 19" stainless prop performed better than the 17" aluminum. If you are in the habit of keeping the boat slightly loaded the 17" will do it. You need to keep a spare prop anyway, get it and try it! You would expect the mph to drop a little but usually the performance gained is worth it.

W/the depth of the V of these boats, I believe they are better served by a large diameter prop...mine is a 15 1/4" diameter w/a 17 pitch...you should gain top end and get closer to the max rpms the manufacturer recommends

5000-5600 for WOT on that engine. Average load should turn up to about 5400-5500 WOT. If loaded heavier than normal, 5200 isn't that bad. I would go with a medium diameter 3 blade or a 4 blade stainless 17 if it were me.

I am finally going to buy the prop. I found a good deal on a turning point hustler prop but it only comes in a 14.25 by 17 or a 14.25 by 19.Is this smaller diam. prop going to be a problem. Out of these two which one do you think would be better for my v-20 cc or should I try to find a different prop that is 15 by 17.
