Ahhh, so nice to hear I am getting screwed and need a new mechanic. In any event, what about a new vehicle. Any suggestions?

Newer TAHOE with the 5.3L or a FORD EXPEDITION is about it for 7 passenger and can tow in a used vehicle. New you could look at some of the import SUV's with 3rd row seating. I just did a valve job on a 350 for my uncle, but at $30 an hour labor rate I charged him about $300 for the whole job with parts. I know it will cost more through a shop, but a grand for what you listed sounds like anal rape WITHOUT THE LUBE!!! Did they at least offer you a kiss after that estimate?

Nope, no kiss, no lube, nothing. New Chevy Traverse is rated to tow up to 4500 lbs. However, it only has a 3.6 litre engine. Think that would be enough to haul a V cuddy with I/O, 60 gallons of fuel, wife, kids and all the boating stuff?

nipper, i bought an 02 tahoe 4wd w/ a 5.3 and love it. had it about 3 years now and when i replace my work truck it will be with a chevy. the tahoe is rated for 7 passengers, but that's like saying the v-20 cuddy sleeps 2. you can get the people in there, but no room for luggage. i don't know how far your haul to the ramp is or how much traveling you do with 7, but have you considered a chevy or gmc astro van? built on a truck frame with rearwheel drive and good towing capability for a mini-van. or even a full size van. they are considerably cheaper than an suv.

I have 163k on my '96 GMC Yukon 2 door 4x4. I plan on at least 3 more years of ownership maybe more. I put less than 20k per year on a vehicle, plus or minus 18k.
