well, i have the cute girl covered, maco.

there was no way i would spend the $200 ... now getting a pair of slides on ebay for $20, that is another option.

the issue is that there is a lip under my leaning post where the cooler is to go. i am pretty strong, but i would not want to lift that cooler up over the lip multiple times a day with it full of ice.

there is just enough room under the leaning post for the cooler, not enough room to open the lid. this is where the slide feature comes in.

man .. with all the posts i read about building a bow pulpit, tackle storage locker, cutting board, lowering a bow rail, rear swim platform, i thought this project would rate a 1 on the difficulty scale.

will keep you posted if i develop anything.

I'm surprised too about the responses...rather than metal, have you thought of making rails of Starboard...surface-to-surface, that stuff is SLICK and would make excellent slides...how high is the "lip"?

Good luck w/it and let us know how it goes...

What about putting starboard under the cooler to bring it up almost level with the lip. It will slide right out without having to lift......but you would have to put a latch or something that would hold the cooler in while under way.

Just brain stormin.

Brad - Take a picture of lip. If the lip is really a bar on the leaning post . . . buy a smaller cooler or cut it off and the mount blocks. The project should be .000000001 on a scale of 1 to 10 . . . Don't over complicate the issue. K.I.S.S. sliding rails under a leaning posts is not a smart idea IMO. Mount the fixed blocks and move on!! No need to spend weeks on this problem.

thanks for all the replies.

shrimpin ... i already have those corner mounts with the bungee strap. will see if i could trim down the lip.

reelapeelin and randle ... like the idea of using the starboard sliding on itself.

will keep you posted on what i come up with (if anything). if you have any other ideas, keep em coming.
